Government Cannabis: Taking a Stance Against State-Owned Reefer

Government Cannabis: Taking a Stance Against State-Owned Reefer

Government ownership of cannabis outfits? What a savage joke after half a century of screaming reefer madness, bilking taxpayers blind with a trillion-dollar War on Drugs failure, and shredding millions of American lives into felony confetti.  The government has never operated a business without bleeding red ink like a gut-shot hog.  Why hand them the keys to the green kingdom now?  Private markets are roaring ahead, wild and free, while bureaucratic dinosaurs lumber toward bankruptcy.

A Country of Prohibition's Ghosts

Picture it: Nixon's paranoid '71 declaration unleashes the War on Drugs, a berserk crusade torching $1 trillion in cash while dope fiends multiply like roaches in a heat wave.  Overdoses spike 145% in the enforcement endgame, 71,000 stiffs in 2017 alone, bodies piling up as the DEA chases shadows.  Jails bulge with two million souls by the 2000s, three-quarters busted for nickel-and-dime shit like a joint in the pocket...Black folks hit hardest, of course, in this rigged carnival of justice.

Harry Anslinger's ghost cackles from the 1930s: "Reefer Madness" flicks peddle visions of axe-wielding maniacs, his lurid rags screaming "assassins of youth" to ram through the '37 Marijuana Tax Act.  States tumble like dominoes with 29 bans by '31...felonies rain on heads, torching jobs, homes, and futures.  Black markets feast on the carnage, fat and untouchable.

Propaganda's Flashback

The suits spun yarns of demonic weed turning choirboys into killers, burying hemp's healing juju under a landslide of bullshit while booze and tobacco kill by the millions. Anslinger's Narcotics Bureau pumps the poison, stigma sticks like tar. Now 38 states flip the script with 15,000 private dispensaries slinging legal fire.  But the old lies echo, a bad trip for the ages.

Global body count?  3,940 executions, 27,000 "extrajudicial" hits in Duterte's Philippines slaughterhouse.  States blow $30 billion yearly on pens over rehab, prisons fattened on the War's fumes.  Private legalization flips the script: billions in taxes roll in, proving the market's mad genius without Uncle Sam's fumbling mitts.

Government's Busted Business Trip

Governments hawking goods? A laugh riot of epic fails, subsidized by your wallet's blood. USPS hemorrhages $100 billion since '07...$9.5 billion fresh wounds as emails eat stamps alive.  Amtrak begs federal scraps, forever off the rails.  Pennsylvania's booze monopoly? PLCB rakes $3.16 billion sales but net crumbles 44% to $135 million, gnawed by fat payrolls and pension black holes.

Canada's provincial pot peddlers, Ontario's state stores, crawl at 4.5% growth to C$5.39 billion in '24, black market bandits laughing all the way.  Pennsylvania's HB 1200 pipe dream?  $200 million down the toilet, feds circling with RICO sharks, banks ghosting the whole show.  Private U.S. weed warriors birth jobs and slash $3.6 billion in enforcement waste, taxes flowing like cheap bong water.

Doom Loop of State-Run Stash Houses

No U.S. state dares own the plants outright.  Georgia hands four vertical licenses to privates, Alabama picks 21 growers/processors.  Jump in, and Schedule I feds unleash hell: seizures, suits, grants yanked.  Banking?  A fever dream for state hacks in the gray zone.

Booze control fans howl for "safety," but PLCB chugs revenue first, sales slumping anyway. Monopolies choke the spark while privates breed 160+ strains, pump $6 billion into the beast.  Politicos would meddle like junkies on a bender, senators stalling prices like they did FAA nods.

Private Jungle Thrives, Feds Flail

Colorado and Mass bankroll schools on tax hauls; arrests crash, billions saved nationwide. Dispensaries lab-test the goods eliminating black-market fentanyl roulette.  Prices plunge 32% since '21 on supply waves, consumers winning big, with no deficits in sight.

Markets incentivize the grind: innovate or die, self-police in the chaos.  State shops breed lobbyist leeches, union tentacles strangling innovation.  After the lies gutted generations, governments should license the lunatics, tax the frenzy, and get the hell out to let capitalism stitch the scars.

Rescheduling Road to Ruin's End

Descheduling could unleash trillions in feral growth via private savagery.  Bureaucrats regulate like pit bulls, but this business is for trailblazers. The War on Drugs?  Bury it with the idea of state ownership, and let's move on to flourish.
